Is My Camera Covered in an Auto Accident?

The answer can be yes or no, depending on your situation. If you are at fault for the accident, then I will refer to your homeowner’s insurance. If you have a homeowner’s policy then you have possible Camera Insurance for your items. If you are not at fault for the accident (i.e. Someone hits you), then your items would be covered by the other parties liability insurance (see state regulation). Typically the other person’s automobile insurance may require that you prove your loss, meaning researching the item, providing a quote for repair or prices for the ACV (actual cash value = replacement cost – depreciation). So if you are driving with your camera and equipment with you, make sure you either have homeowner’s insurance, or make sure your no at fault for the accident! In the end, the best practice would be not get in an accident, but if you do, make sure you are covered.
